Thomas Tuchel has told the Chelsea board he wants to raid former club PSG for Marquinhos this summer.
The German was appointed at Stamford Bridge back in January but has made an instant impact ahead of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea are expected to back Tuchel as he eyes reinforcements despite spending heavily last summer when Frank Lampard was at the helm.
The Blues are expected to pursue a striker as Timo Werner struggles to find the net with regularity and doubts continuing over Tammy Abraham’s future.
But defensive addition are also on Tuchel’s wish list as he eyes Marquinhos as he looks to reunite him with Thiago Silva, according to the Sunday World.
Silva joined on a free from PSG in the summer with his experience proving invaluable in west London.
Marquinhos does have three years remaining on his Paris deal however which will present challenges.
Chelsea also look set to enter the race for Jadon Sancho as Tuchel spoke of his role in the club’s recruitment.
“I have opinions about what we can add to the group to get better,” he said.
“This is my job and I will give my opinion and I am asked my opinion and we will do this and sometimes opinions change.
“This is also a process and I have my ideas of course. I have ideas of certain profiles. This is not about me wishing for this player A and B and if they don’t come I will get angry. This was never like this in my whole career. This will not be like this.
“I totally understand there are issues to solve with the agents, the player, the interests of a club. It is not only about me and my wishes.
“I talk with the club and give my opinion and we share this with the scouting and of course I’m involved and I should be involved and I have absolutely the feeling that I am involved.”
